Friday Whippet Blogging

More from Obamiconme. I had trouble deciding on the message – DOG was a good one, BENJAMIN would have been boring, WHIPPET was obvious, but in the end I did what I could. Maybe a bit self-serving, but I’m worth it.

There are 2 babies in that photo, hanging onto that succulent pepperomia, and each other. We are very proud for their parents, since the parents aren’t, since the babies of course had to be separated immediately.

Benjamin went to work for a couple weeks in a San Francisco office. He seems to have taken to it very well.

I wonder if he’ll ever want to work at the nursery again?

LATE UPDATE: He moved! New Position! Amica approves!

Friday Whippet Blogging

Benjamin is still in Santa Cruz with his sister Amica and cousing Jaxx. When he gets back maybe we’ll have some group portaits for you. But not today.

Here, have an engraving to hold you over.

I wonder what that other non-whippet dog is? Maybe a terrier. A dachshund? Eh, whatever, this is friday whippet blogging and that’s a very pretty whippet with a bow there.

LATE UPDATE: Benjamin and Amica, photo by Dani!

Rare Wild Whippets

It’s hard to photograph whippets in the wild, they get a little blurry, but the camera seems to have captured this fantastic blurry state just so.

Benjamin’s on vacation in Santa Cruz. No pictures today. Come back next week, and we’ll see what we can do.

In the meantime, here’s a Whippet Composite by Mick Cawston for sale on Whippet Prints.

National Geographic claims that a recent study shows that dogs get jealous.

The first scientific study to find envy in non-primates affirms what many already know: dogs can get jealous.

Yeah, whatever, we see it all the time.

Anyway, this particular study doesn’t seem to show any such thing anyway.

The team had one dog watch another dog receive a reward for doing a trick. When the watching dog performed the same trick and was not rewarded, that dog refused to do the trick again, Range said.

But that’s not jealousy, that’s Justice. Dogs have a sense of justice! Just goes to show that justice is a requisite for social species. Even for dogs.

Here, have a picture of Benjamin.

He’s very social.

Friday Holiday Whippet Blogging

Hide a squirrel! Benjamin loved his, but it was too easy for him, so Hap sewed the holes shut tighter, and then it would take Benjamin even a whole minute to get them out. Smart dog. Also, a long skinny nose. But those squirrels sure are delicious.

Benjamin sits quietly yesterday waiting for his turn at the Thanksgiving leftovers.

He kept looking at the giant turkey carcass in the kitchen thinking that would all be his. Hah!

Whippet the Vote

It’s Friday Whippet Blogging, Special Election Tuesday Edition

Benjamin supports Obama, and wants you to go out and vote no matter who you’re voting for; unless you’re writing in Clinton and then you should stay home. Hey, Benjamin, that’s not nice! Nobody ever said whippets were nice dogs.

Friday Mummy Blogging

The National Geographic gets in the holiday spirit with their photo of the day.

Spooky.

A close-up shows the desiccated hand of a remarkably preserved woman from Peru’s ancient Moche culture. The discovery of her elaborately wrapped remains at a ceremonial site called El Brujo puzzled archaeologists, who were surprised by what appeared to be a female ruler among the male-dominated Moche.

I forgot to mention yesterday, on Friday Whippet Blogging, but Benjamin now has his own Facebook page!

Shall I say, “Woohoo!” ?
