Low growing, stems flattened crescents, long spines. Seeds used for red dye. Flowers are orange to rose-red, bloom in spring. Stems often lay flat and the growth habit can include creeping along the ground and rooting from the pads.

Turbinicarpus gielsdorfianus

Small round cactus with long curving black spines and yellow flowers. Usually solitary, vertical growth is almost conical. Woolly areoles.

Uncarina grandidieri

A winter-deciduous succulent that grows a thick caudiciform trunk over time. Leaves are green, slightly fuzzy to the touch, and scented. Blooms lovely yellow flowers, seed pods that follow are hooked and barbed. Can get to 10ft tall.

One of the wierdest tropical desert plants.
Care: Water weekly first year, do not let fully dry out. Water every 1-2 weeks thereafter. 4 hrs min. afternoon sun. Sensitive to changing light conditions. Senstivie to transplant – keep roots intact.

Whitesloanea crassa

Rare caudiciform stapeliad; dry and warm in winter. Can grow to 10″ tall. We grow them with weekly water during the hot part of the year and monthly or less in the winter.

Xerosicyos danguyi

Thick round leaves on a vining succulent. Leaves will die back in drought conditions. Indoor in winter. Prefers heat.
