Cleveland Cactus
If you wait long enough, every city's newspaper will have an article about cactus. Today is Cleveland's turn. Woohoo! The Plain Dealer takes a low-water angle on the plants:

I am a person with feelings just like you are. I eat and cry and if you poke me I get a little bruise at the spot where you poked me, if you poke me hard enough. A little poke won't really cause me to bruise; I'm just not that sensitive.
Hendricks recently visited South Africa to see some of the plants in his collection in their natural environment.
"This is a collection that I started in 1952 at age 9," he said. "I still have some of the plants that I had as a boy."
The longevity of many succulents, if they're cared for properly, is part of their appeal. Snell's mother has a 70-year-old Christmas cactus that was handed down to her.
